I love eggplant. This is another very special family recipe, and really, the only way I’ve eaten eggplant (or muh len zhan, as we say) most of my life. I mean, until I tasted and fell in love with Thai green curry eggplant with basil in my late 20’s, but that’s for another post. In my opinion, Eggplant + [...] October is a busy month for us. Birthday parties, soccer tournaments, Halloween, Mom always comes to visit for two weeks and it’s one of my busiest months at work. So this is why, as you may have noticed, I haven’t been posting as much. But, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been cooking! I have to find time [...] Oh, I’m just being fancy. We call this pasta with meat sauce, and it’s anything but fancy. When I hear the word “ragú”, I first think of that nasty jarred pasta sauce. Please don’t tell me you eat that stuff, because Mama would turn over in her grave if she knew. Actually, ragú is an Italian term for a meat-based [...] This past Saturday, my brother Phill held his annual End of the Summer Picnic. It’s an all-day event, and so much fun! He’s been throwing this picnic for 16 years, for old friends and new friends and each year it gets bigger and bigger… and curiously enough, simultaneously year after year…. so does Phill’s facial hair! He’s really handsome [...] So because my last post was about our beloved Sunday gravy, I thought it was important to do my very next post on our equally beloved meatballs.
